The Bennington Township Planning Commission Meeting was held on December 29, 2022.
Chair Russ Thomas called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the Township Hall.
Members Present: Russ Thomas, Dick Demerly, James Norder, Larry Johnson, Donna Ash.
Moved by Larry Johnson to approve the meeting agenda, seconded by Dick Demerly. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes:
Larry Johnson moved to approve the minutes for the March 31, 2022 meeting as printed. Seconded by
Jim Norder. Motion carried.
Dick Demerly moved to approve the minutes for the August 25, 2022 minutes as printed. Seconded by
Jim Norder. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Robert and Debra Morgan were present for their Variance Application.

New Business:
Moved by Larry Johnson to recommend Variance Application PZBA22-022 for Robert and Debra
Morgan to allow the construction of a residential accessory structure that encroaches into the minimum
side yard setback by approximately 4’ at 4861 Mohican Trail, Owosso, parcel #010-52-033-000.
Seconded by Dick Demerly. Motion carried.
Moved by Larry Johnson to recommend approval of Variance Application PZBA22-23. Motion died for
a lack of second.
Moved by Russ Thomas to recommend denial of Variance Application PZBA22-023for Hollie Drake to
allow the construction of a single-family dwelling which encroaches within the required 100ft.
waterfront setback at Chippewa Path, Owosso, parcel#010-42-007-000. Seconded by Dick Demerly.
Yes- Demerly, Norder, Ash, Thomas. No- Johnson. Motion carried.
Moved by Larry Johnson to approve Land Division Application #PLD22-029 by Stephen Fitzpatrick at
2125 Grand River Rd. Owosso, parcel number 010-27-200-010 and 010-27-200-001-01. Seconded by
Russ Thomas. Motion carried. Motion carried.
Moved by Russ Thomas to approve the regular meeting dates for 2023 for the last Thursday of each
month except for November 16, 2023, all meeting will meet at the Township Hall at 7:00pm. Seconded
by Larry Johnson. Motion carried.
Next meeting is August 25, 2023.
Moved by Dick Demerly to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 pm. Seconded by Larry Johonson. Motion
carried.
