Bennington Township Planning Commission

October 26, 2017


The Bennington Township Planning Commission Meeting was held on October 26, 2017.  Chair Russ Thomas called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the Township Hall.

Members Present:  Larry Johnson, Russ Thomas, Frank Gregory, Bill Nash, Jim Norder, Donna Ash, and Dick Demerly.

Moved by Frank Gregory to approve the meeting agenda.  Seconded by Bill Nash.   Motion carried.

Moved by Dick Demerly to approve the minutes as printed for the September 28, 2017 meeting as printed.  Seconded by Donna Ash.  Motion carried.

Moved by Frank Gregory to approve Variance Request # PZBA17-023 by Timmothy Thiel of 5169 Hickory Hollow Lane, Owosso, MI 48867; Tax ID# 010 48 009 000; Section 15, Bennington Township.  Request – to allow the total floor area of all detached accessory structures to be greater than the maximum square footage requirements.  Seconded by Larry Johnson.  Motion carried. 

Donna Ash updated the Board on Bennington Township’s Five Year Review of Bennington Township Master Land Use Plan.    No action taken.

Moved by Frank Gregory to send a letter to the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners expressing our concern over their approval of the Application Request #PREZ-003 by Alec Faber – owner Fitness Coliseum, LLC of 4377 S. M-52, Owosso, MI 48867 -- Property Tax ID#: 010-10-100-005-01; Section 10, Bennington Township.  Request for the rezoning of property from the A-2, Agricultural Production/Rural Residential district to the B-2, General Business district.  The proposed rezoning does not conform to Bennington Township’s Land Use Plan.  Seconded by Larry Johnson.  Motion carried.

Moved by Donna Ash to approve Land Division Application PLD17-0040 by Thomas Hinterman of 2548 E. Garrison Rd., Durand, MI  48429.  Site Location: 4218 S. Cook Rd., Owosso, MI 48867.  Parent Parcel # 010-12-200-001 Bennington Township.  Seconded by Frank Gregory.  Motion carried.

Donna Ash updated the Board on the Proposed Amendments to the Shiawassee County Zoning Ordinance:  Article 18, Shiawassee county Board of Appeals and #2 Article 12, Section 12.2.6, Appeals.  Moved by Russ Thomas to table the Proposed Amendments to the Shiawassee County Zoning Ordinance.  Seconded by Frank Gregory.  Motion carried.

Next meeting is November 16, 2017.

Moved by Dick Demerly to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 pm.  Seconded by Frank Gregory.  Motion carried.
