The Bennington Township Planning Commission regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman Rod Harmon at 7:10 p.m..
Members present: Rod Harmon, Bernie Scollon, Frank Gregory and Russ Thomas,
Members absent: Dick Demerly, Bill Nash and Donna Ash.
No formal agenda was presented and minutes of the November 18, 2010 meeting were not available.
There were no public comments from the audience as there were no visitors in attendance.
Frank Gregory reported that he attended the most recent Bennington Township Board Meeting. At that meeting Trustee Jim Forsythe indicated the letter received and reviewed at the November 18, 2010 Bennington Township Planning Commission meeting had to do with the Lake Manitou Association and their interest in constructing a maintenance and equipment storage facility. The letter in question was dated November 3, 2010, from the Zoning Board of Appeals and authored by Community Planner, Peter J. Preston, AICP, PCP. Frank reported the Township concluded they would not stand in the way of the Association’s construction of such a facility.
Russ Thomas initiated a discussion on the proposed construction and development of a 199-foot tall monopole telecommunications tower and equipment compound to be located east of M-52 and north of E. Farm Lane in Bennington Township by Verizon Wireless. Public notice appeared in the November 28, 2010 edition of the Sunday Independent. Frank Gregory suggested the township might seek to have the tower and equipment compound built on Township Property if a suitable site was available to take advantage of an income stream for the Township.
The next meeting of the Bennington Township Planning Commission will be January 27 , 2011.
Moved by Bernie Scollon to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 p.m. Seconded by Frank Gregory. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted:
Russell J. Thomas, Acting Secretary
