No comments from the audience:
The Board discussed FEMA’s Maple River Flood Plan. Rusty reported on the November 30, 2009 meeting at the Caledonia Township Hall to answer questions regarding the floodplain for the Maple River. FEMA has to complete project maps and data before the Bennington Township Planning Commission takes any formal action. No action taken.
County Zoning Ordinance Proposed Changes:
Item 1. Campground Language Revision/Text Amendments:
The Board discussed how the new revision has been substantially changed from the previous text amendment revisions. The Board had previously approved the proposed Test Amendments from the Revision Date: April 30, 2009 at the June 25, 2009 Bennington Township Planning Commission Meeting. The Board commented that is seemed unclear if such issues as placement of campground sites due to variations in topography, slope gradients and flood plains are addressed by the proposed Text Amendments, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality or the Shiawassee County Site Review Planning Board. No action taken.
Item 2. Major Thoroughfare Map Review:
The Board discussed the proposed amendment to the definition of “major thoroughfare” under Article 21, Definitions. No action taken.
Item 3. Outdoor Solid Fuel Furnace Ordinance/Text Amendment:
The Board had questions as the necessity of the ordinance, but if the county adopts the ordinance, the Board questioned the necessity of the cost of both a zoning permit and building permit. No action taken.
Moved by Bill Nash to accept the proposed Bennington Township Planning Commission meeting schedule dates for 2010. Seconded by Dick Demerly. Motion carried.
