Unfinished Business:
FEMA- Maple River Flood Plain. Donna Ash reported that she was unable to make contact with anyone at FEMA regarding the questions that the Planning Commission had compiled. She will continue to try to obtain the information.
Row Engineering- Ordinance Seminar- Rod Harmon attended the Ordinance Seminar and reported back to the Commission. The seminar reviewed how to write ordinances and the best way to make them user friendly.
New Business:
Land Division- Number of Divisions available- Linda Klein sent a memo to the Township requesting the Township make a determination of the number of land divisions available on parcel #010-31-200-002-03 for Valerie Lee. Al Dutcher moved that after review of the Lee property #010-31-200-002-03, it is the Planning Commissions opinion that the 16 acre parcel is the parent parcel, because a 16 acre parcel would have consisted of an illegal division, non conforming lot and would not have been allowed, and the Township Assessor granted three divisions in 1999 as requested from this parcel, therefore the one remaining division would go with the parent parcel, as no divisions were transferred to a newly formed division per the deed nor per an L-4260a. Second by Rusty Thomas. Motion carried.
County Extension- Discussion as to the County cutting funding to County Extension as this suggestion was brought before the County Commissioners by County Director Margaret McAvoy. Al Dutcher moved to adopt a resolution that funding of the County Extension Program continue form Shiawassee County. Second by Rod Harmon. Roll call vote: All Commission members present in favor. Motion carried.
Resolution
Funding for Shiawassee County Extension
Where as, Shiawassee County Extension provides services to the community that are not provided by any other service;
Where as, the resources provided by Shiawassee County Extension to the community is invaluable;
Where as, agriculture is the leading industry within Shiawassee County;
Where as, the discontinuation of funding would put an end to the 4-H program which provides learning to hundreds of youth within the county;
Therefore be it resolved, as the Bennington Township Planning Commission we fully support the funding of the Shiawassee County Extension from Shiawassee County Commissioners.
Dick Demerly moved to adjourn. Second by Al Dutcher. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Ash, Acting Secretary
