BENNINGTON TOWNSHIP
Regular Board Meeting

June 6, 2022

 

The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on June 6, 2022, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Donna Ash
Not Present: Cody Baker

Forsythe moved to approve the agenda as printed. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the May 5, 2022 regular board meeting as printed. Second by Dutcher. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to approve payment of the bills as presented in the amount of $24,636.19. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.

Public Comment:
Co. Comm. C. Garber – Gave an update to the board of county activities.
Justin Jones – Spoke regarding a blight issue on Bennington Road.
Kirk Norton – Inquired if there were any concerns with the lawn maintenance.
Scott Aughney – Spoke regarding alleged election fraud at the 2020 Election.

Board Reports:
Library – Garber – updated the board
Plan Comm – D. Ash – no meeting
Roads – L.Ash – First application of mineral well brine is complete.

Old Business:
Pole Barn/House Removal – Two bids received. Dutcher moved to accept the bid from Smith Paving/Smith Sand & Gravel to remove the pole barn and two houses on the Township property on M-52 as indicted in the bid at a cost of $32,260.00. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.

New Business:
Fireworks Permit – Jon Nash – L. Ash moved to approve the fireworks permit for ACE Pyro, LLC for a fireworks display at Lake Manitou on July 2, 2022 (July 3, 2022 rain date), 9:30pm- 11:30pm. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.  L. Ash moved to approve the fireworks permit for Jon Nash, MPAG (Michigan Pyrotechnic Arts Guild) for a fireworks display at 4975 W. Grand River Rd., Owosso on July 16, 2022, 7:00pm – 12:00am, pending proof of insurance. Second by Dutcher. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Sons for the American Revolution – Letter requesting permission to place a sign in Alton Cemetery dedicated to Jacob Doty recognizing his service in the American Revolution.  D. Ash moved to approve the placement of a sign in Alton Cemetery for Jacob Doty by the Sons for the American Revolution. Second by Dutcher. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
MTA Ballot – No action taken.

Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by Dutcher. Motion carried.
