September 1, 2021
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on September 1, 2021, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Lee Ash, Matt Dutcher, Cody Baker, Donna Ash
Not Present: Jim Forsythe
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda with the addition of Property Sale. Second by Baker. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to approve the minutes for the August 2, 2021 as printed. Second by Baker. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Baker. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $25,428.15. Second by Baker. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Kimberly White Shiawassee District Library Director – Introduced herself to the board as the new director. Gave an update of what is happening at the library along with an update website of mysdl.org, and plans for some improvements.
Board Reports:
Library – K. White – Filed the L-4029, a change in hours, and working with the City of Owosso on improvements.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Recommended approval of one land division.
Old business:
Audit – Dutcher moved to approve the Township Audit for 2020 – 2021. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Attorney Opinion – Board was presented with the written opinion form the Township Attorney that was requested at the last meeting.
Property Sale – Dutcher moved to reinitiate the listing of the house at 2948 Brewer Rd., Owosso with American Associates, Inc., per the new survey, at a price of $189,900.00, and give the Supervisor the authority to act and sign on behalf of the Township. Second by Baker. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
New business:
L-4029 – Baker moved to approve the L-4029, 2021 Tax Rate Request, and levy millage for Operating at a rate .9384, Fire at a rate of 1.0, and SATA at a rate of .12. Second by Dutcher. All board members present in favor. Motion carries.
Removal of Fence & Brush Hog – Estimate received from the Lawncare contractor to do additional lawn work on the new Township property. Baker moved to approve the estimate from G&W’s Family Lawncare, LLC to remove fence and brush and brush hog the rest of the lot at a total cost of $6,420.00. Second by L. Ash. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Culvert Replacement- Dutcher moved to table the culvert replacement agreement with Shiawassee County Road Commission for Brewer Road between Ruess Road and Friegel Road at an estimated cost of $3,122.00 for a later date at which time ARPA Funds may be used on the project. Second by Baker. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to adjourn. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
