BENNINGTON TOWNSHIP
Regular Board Meeting

July 5, 2021

 

The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on July 5, 2021, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.

Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Cody Baker, Donna Ash.

Forsythe moved to approve the agenda with additions of .gov Web Address and Speed Limit on Grand River Rd. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the June, 7, 2021 regular board meeting as printed. Second by Baker. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to approve payment of the bills as presented in the amount of $48,681.62. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Public Comment:
Co. Comm. Garber – Updated the board on County activities.

Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Update.
Plan Comm. – D. Ash – Recommended approval of two business items.

Roads – L. Ash – Update.

Unfinished Business:
Property Resale/Survey – Dutcher moved to give the Supervisor the authority to have the Township Property survey and corners marked and to survey the parcel to be sold with lines to be determined with a 10’ to 20’ set back.  Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

New Business:
Sheriff’s Department – Dutcher moved to accept the contract with Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department for additional traffic enforcement along M-52 within the Township, to take place between June 2021 and December 2021, at a total cost of $5000.00. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Sheriff’s Department S.H.O.T. – Information received.
SATA Commitment – Dutcher moved to approve the commitment to SATA for October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 at a cost not to exceed $16,749.14. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor.  Motion carried.
Township COVID Monies – Dutcher moved to accept the Township’s share of federal COVID relief dollars through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding and give the Supervisor the authority to sign on the Townships behalf. Second by Baker. All Board members in favor. Motion carried.
.gov Web Site – Forsythe is currently working on getting a .gov web site for the Township.
Speed Limit on Grand River Rd – L. Karhoff spoke about the concerns of the speed limit on Grand River Road and need for it to be reduced.

Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by Baker. Motion carried.
