Ambulance Special Assessment Hearing for MMR District September 14, 2020

Bennington Township Ambulance special Assessment Hearing for the area covered by Mobile Medical Response, MMR, was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on September 14, 2020, 7:30pm at the Bennington Township Hall.

Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Cody Baker, Donna Ash
Residents: Lou Sipka
Also Present: MMR Operations Manager Lansing Division Matthew Kehn

Jim Forsythe moved to suspend with regular meeting procedure and move to the Special Assessment Hearing. Seconded by Lee Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

No correspondence was received regarding this meeting from home owners.

Public Comment:

Mr. Lou Sipka questioned the financials of the Ambulance, where does the money go and why are bills being sent if tax money is being collected.

MMR Matthew Kehn addressed the questions from Mr. Sipka, indicating that the special assessment helped defer the costs of running an ambulance in the area and guaranteed ambulance service in the area. 

Cody Baker moved to adopt a resolution to increase the Ambulance Special Assessment for the MMR district covering sections 1 -12 of Bennington Township at $45.00 per household per year for a term of four years beginning falloff 2020. Seconded by Jim Forsythe.  All board members in favor. Motion carried. (Complete wording of the Special Assessment is available at the Township Hall.)

Jim Forsythe moved to adjourn. Seconded by Lee Ash. Motion carried.
