November 5, 2018
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on November 5, 2018, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Matt Dutcher, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Nancy Zdunic, Donna Ash.
Zdunic moved to approve the agenda as printed. Seconded by Garber. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the minutes for the October 1, 2018 regular board meeting as presented. Seconded by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Seconded by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $166,152.05. Seconded by Dutcher. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Sherriff BeGole – Reported on the extra patrol within the Township.
Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Meeting is next week.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Held the Public Hearing for the Master Plan update and approved amendments to be sent to the Board for approval. Recommended approval of one land division.
Roads – L. Ash – Supervisor Meeting in December.
Unfinished Business:
Kellogg Drain – Drain Commissioner Tony Newman and Alan Boyer, PE from LSG Engineers & Surveyors presented the Board with information regarding the replacement of a culvert at Miller Road. Garber moved to approve the payment of half the cost not to exceed $6,869.00 to replace the culvert for the Kellogg Drain at Miller Road. Seconded by Zdunic. Roll call vote: Zdunic-yes, L. Ash-yes, D. Ash-yes, Dutcher-no, Garber-yes. Motion carried.
Hall Rental Policy for Clubs – Zdunic moved to accept the changes to the Hall Rental Rules and Regulations as printed with the addition of rules #15 regarding rental to youth clubs and #16 regarding rental for funeral dinners. Seconded by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried. (Complete wording of rental rules available at Township Hall.)
New Business:
Ambulance contract Severance – Received a letter from Attorney Lynn Bowne verifying that the Emergency Ambulance Service contractual obligating by Owosso Charter Township for ambulance service has been discontinued as of July 1, 2018. New Service is provided directly with Mobile Medical Response, Inc.
SSESA Contract – Dutcher moved to accept the new Emergency Service Agreement with Southwest Shiawassee Emergency Service Alliance (SSESA) as printed. Seconded by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried. (Complete wording of agreement available at Township Hall)
Public Comment:
Scott Newman – Spoke to the board again regarding his concern with outdoor burners/boilers and the need for regulations in regards to public health and safety.
Dutcher moved to adjourn. Seconded by Garber. Motion carried.
