August 7, 2017
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on August 7, 2017, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Matt Dutcher, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Donna Ash, Nancy Zdunic.
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda as printed. Seconded by Dutcher. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for the July 3, 2017 regular board meeting as printed. Seconded by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Seconded by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $38,169.94. Seconded by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Caroline Wilson, Shia. Co. Clerk – Reported on the reduction of office hours for the County Clerk’s office and indicated dates for the roll out of the new election equipment. There was some discussion regarding the policy for waiving the cost of birth certificates.
Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Annual picnic was held at Durand.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Recommended approval of two land divisions and requested approval to proceed with the five year update to the Township Land Use Plan.
Roads – L. Ash – The Chip and Seal remains to be done on Hibbard Road along with the gravel projects.
Unfinished Business: Michigan Township Participating Plan Recommendations – D. Ash updated the board on the suggestions from the insurance audit.
New Business:
Election Equipment Grant Approval – Dutcher moved to adopt a resolution for Bennington Township to enter into a Grant Agreement with the State of Michigan to Obtain Election Equipment. Seconded by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried. (Complete wording of the resolution is available at the Township Hall.)
Oakwood Cemetery – Zdunic moved to accept the bid from Nash Nurseries to remove an existing dead tree and replace it with a 2 ½ inch Crimson King Maple in Oakwood Cemetery at a cost of $415.96. Seconded by Dutcher. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to adjourn. Seconded by Dutcher. Motion carried.
