The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called
to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on June 6, 2011, 7:00pm
at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber,
Lee Ash, Nancy Zdunic, Donna Ash.
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda with additions.
Second by Garber. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for the May 2, 2011
regular board meeting as printed. Second by L. Ash. All
board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer's report as
presented. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor.
Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to pay bills as printed in the amount of
$84,865.47. Second by Garber. All board members in
favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment: None
Shiawassee County Road Commission -Lonny Latunski -
Discussed the chip seal problems from last year and the
chip seal projects for this year. The cost to fog seal
the problem roads from last year with no guarantee of
the success are: Friegel Rd. - $13,350, Delaney Rd. -
$3,900, Bennington Rd. - $11,715, Grand River Rd. -
$11,570.
Board Reports:
Library - E. Humphrey - Minutes on file.
SSESA - G. Hubbard - Delivered contract. Gave an update
of activity in the area.
Plan Comm - D. Ash - Discussion of the Cell Tower
Application and the Flood Insurance Ordinance.
Roads -L. Ash - Mineral Well Brine will be applied June
15 - 21.
Web Page - Forsythe - Update.
Unfinished Business:
SSESA Contract- Signed contract received.
New Business:
SATA Contract - Zdunic moved to contract with SATA for
public transportation from October 1, 2011 to September
30, 2012 at a cost not to exceed $12,500.66. Second by
Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
(This is a millage item that was voted in by residents
in November 2010.)
Admin Fee - Zdunic moved to approve a 1% administration
fee on the summer and winter tax billings of 2011.
Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion
carried.
Tables for Hall- Zdunic suggested the purchase new tables for the hall, her reason for new tables was that plastic tables would be lighter and easier to manage. Zdunic will look into prices for tables.
Emergency Sirens - Forsythe mentioned the possibility of
placing some emergency alert sirens within the Township.
Chief Hubbard indicated that the cost for each siren was
about $10,000 not including maintenance fees. One siren
would serve five square miles.
Roads - Zdunic moved to chip and
seal Bennington Rd. from M-52 west to Baldwin Rd. at a
cost of $52,400.00 with an additional fog seal at a cost
of $10,556 and to chip and seal Tyrrell Rd. from Morrice
Rd.
east to township line at a cost of $18,125.00. Second
by
Forsythe. All board
members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by Garber. Motion carried.
