The Bennington Township regular meeting was called to order on November 2, 2009, 7:00pm by Supervisor Lee Ash at the Bennington Township Hall.
Present: Lee Ash, Donna Ash, Cindy Garber, Jim Forsythe, Nancy Zdunic.
Forsythe moved to approve the agenda with the additions of FEMA Maple River Floodplain and Newsletter. Second by Garber. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes with five typo corrections. Second by Zdunic. Zdunic questioned why there was nothing stated in the paper about the comments form the floor. D. Ash stated that only a minute synopsis was printed in the paper. Roll call vote. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $31,521.59. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Comments from the floor:
Cooper- Asked about what was on the ballot for the November election in Bennington. D. Ash stated that there was no election for Bennington Township.
H. Sparks- County Commissioner Update.
N. Lynn- Wanted to thank the Township Board for the Drain work which was being done within the Village of Bennington.
F. Gregory- Asked about the cement work in the parking lot as to the thickness of the cement that was removed, when the original cement was put in extra money was paid because of the need to have it extra thick in areas, up to eleven inches. L. Ash stated that he was unaware of any cement that was removed that was that thick.
Board Reports:
Library- Library Board member not present, no report given.
Plan Comm- D. Ash- Rod Harmon gave a report on the Ordinance Seminar given by Rowe Engineering, Valerie Lee property remainder of divisions was reviewed, and a resolution was adopted for the full funding of County Extension by Shiawassee County.
Roads- L. Ash- Road projects are complete for the year. A letter from Lake Manitou Association was received requesting a bid for next year chip seal.
Web Page- Forsythe- Update. Report on file.
Unfinished Business:
Driveway off Brewer Road to Hall- Check into zoning requirements and proceed with obtaining bids.
Snowplow Bids- Four bids were received at the last meeting and were put on hold for clarification. Garber moved to accept the bid form Sun Burst Gardens for $55/hr plowing of the cemetery upon request, $70/hr salt application upon request, $70/plow at the hall at 2 inches. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Newsletter- D. Ash moved for the Township to publish a newsletter to be placed in the winter tax bills with the approval of MTA. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Maintenance Fill-In- D. Ash moved to give the supervisor the authority to hire a Maintenance/Custodian in the absence of the current employee at the same rate or hire a service if needed and pay at the rate charged. Second by Garber. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
FEMA- Maple River Drain Floodplain - There will be a meeting held on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the Caledonia Township Hall for individuals to discuss this issue. (Note: If you have any questions regarding this issue please contact the clerk at the Township Hall)
Budget- Forsythe moved to make changes to the budget as presented. Second by Garber. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to adjourn. Second by Forsythe. Motion carried.
