The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on June 1, 2009, 7:00pm at the Bennington Township Hall.
Present: Lee Ash, Cindy Garber, Jim Forsythe, Nancy Zdunic, Donna Ash.
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda with addition of Fireworks. Second by Forsythe. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for the April 20, 2009 special board meeting as printed. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the minutes for the May 4, 2009 regular board meeting as printed. Second by Garber. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Forsythe. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the bills as presented in the amount of $22,270.39. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Comments from floor:
H. Sparks- County Comm Update.
J. Hurd- Questioned the contribution to M.A.G.N.E.T. from the Township. The Township will provide Mr. Hurd with the contribution regulation.
F. Gregory- Commented on the Junk Day Clean up, thought it was a good idea and that perhaps it should be publicized as to the turn out.
Board Reports:
Library- Minutes on file.
Plan Comm- D. Ash- Recommended the reappointment of Dick Demerly and the appointment of Russell Thomas to the Planning Commission. Forsythe moved to reappointment Dick Demerly to the Planning Commission for a three year term ending April 2012. Second by L. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried. L. Ash moved to appoint Russell Thomas III to the Planning Commission to fill a vacant position for a term ending April 2011. Second by Garber. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried. Approved three application for PA 116. Zdunic moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve applications 1131, 1132, 1133 for Allan, Matthew, and/or Kevin Dutcher of PA 116. Second by L. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Roads- L. Ash- Dirt roads should have the mineral brine application soon. The gradall is currently be used within the Twp.
Web Page- J. Forsythe- Report on file. Web Page renewal is due in August. Forsythe moved to continue the web site service and URL for another year. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
Farmers Market- The first Township Farmers Market will be June 29 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
RESD Summer Program- Nothing was submitted.
New Business:
Cemetery Memorial Gardens- D. Ash suggested the possibility of placing a Memorial Garden within a cemetery for the purpose of scattering cremation ashes. The Township will do some further research.
Fireworks- Forsythe indicated that the Burning Ordinance stated that fireworks were subject to the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal Bulletin #12 however this responsibility no longer fall under the State Police.
Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried.
