The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on June 4, 2007, 7:00pm at the Bennington Township Hall.
Present: Ray Wirth, Nancy Zdunic, Lee Ash, Gerald Sayles, Donna Ash.
Sayles moved to approve the agenda with addition of Alton Cemetery Stones. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for May 7, 2007 as printed. Second by Wirth. Motion carried.
Sayles moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Wirth. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to pay bills in the amount of $21,696.16. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR:
Travis Smith- Questioned why he had been turned into zoning. Stated he was not doing anything illegal. L. Ash stated that he had received a complaint, and all complaints were turned into the County Zoning. The Board did question Co. Comm. Sparks about the situation and requested if she could request that Townships be informed of how zoning violations were followed up and what procedures were used.
H. Sparks- Co. Comm. update. Millage rates were approved.
BOARD REPORTS:
Sheriffs Dept.- C. Carson- Update. Report on file.
Library- F. Gregory- Report on file.
Plan comm- D. Ash- Recommended for approval land divisions on two parcels. There had been no response to the open seat on the Comm. Sayles moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve five land divisions for Sally Allen on parent parcel 010-27-100-001. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried. Sayles moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve two land divisions for Timothy Spiess on parent parcel 010-17-100-001. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Web Page- J. Forsythe- Update. Report on file. Zdunic moved to renew the web page for one year. Second by L. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Roads- L. Ash- Shiawassee Twp agreed to do the cost share of gravel on Cook Road. Zdunic moved to accept the contract from the Shiawassee Co Road Comm to place gravel on Cook Road from Grand River Road south to Pittsburg Road as a cost share with Shiawassee Township. Bennington Townships cost at $1,750.00. Second by D. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried. Ruess Road between Bennington Road and Garrison Road was looked at for drainage and neither the Road Comm nor the Drain Comm would take on an easement for drainage. Zdunic moved to have the Shiawassee County Road Comm reconstruct Ruess Road between Bennington Road and Garrison Road at a cost of $105,500, and also ditching and tree removal and gravel to Etta Road at a cost of $4,200. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried. J. Forsythe, Lake Manitou Association, brought up concern with West Mohican Drive which was paved last year and does not seem to be holding up.
OLD BUSINESS:
Alton Cemetery Stones- The Sexton has done some work in placing of stones that have fallen and would like to know if the Board would like him to continue. The board members will go out to the cemetery and see the work at their convenience and report back.
NEW BUSINESS:
Election Worker Pay- Sayles moved to increase the election worker pay to $9.00 per hour with the chairperson receiving $10.00 per hour. Second by L. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Meal Reimbursement- Zdunic moved to increase the meal reimbursement to a maximum of $10.00 per meal not to exceed $30.00 per day, with receipts required for reimbursement. Second by D. Ash. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Mileage Reimbursement- L. Ash moved to increase the mileage Reimbursement to $0.42 per mile. Second by Wirth. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Charges for Duplicate Bills- Zdunic will check with MTA if charges can be requested for duplicate bills.
Zdunic moved to adjourn. Second by Sayles. Motion carried.
