The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on April 2, 2007, 7:00pm at the Bennington Township Hall.
Present: Ray Wirth, Nancy Zdunic, Lee Ash, Gerald Sayles, Donna Ash.
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda as printed. Second by Sayles. Motion carried.
Sayles moved to approve the minutes for the March 5, 2007 regular board meeting with the correction of Mike Constine from the Road Commission not Mike Miller. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for the March 28, 2007 special board meeting as printed. Second by Sayles. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Wirth. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $12,114.03. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR:
H. Sparks- County Commissioner Update.
Travis Smith- Questioned Sparks regarding the increase in cost of Soil Erosion Permits and her position on the Drain Commissioner.
BOARD REPORTS:
Sheriffs Dept.- C. Carson- Update.
Library- F. Gregory- Report on file.
Plan Comm.- D. Ash- Approved one land division. Sayles moved to concur with the Planning Commission recommendation and approve one land division for Todd MacLaren on parent parcel #78-010-17-400-001. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried.
Roads- L. Ash will take a list of the road projects being considered by the Township Board to the Road Commission to receive actual contract costs.
OLD BUSINESS:
Cemetery Signs- Waiting to receive a sample.
NEW BUSINESS:
Plan Comm Appointments- Sayles moved to reappoint Bill Nash and Stephanie Johnson-Wuttke to the Planning Commission for three year terms ending in 2010. Second by Wirth. Motion carried.
PMSA Loan Pay Off- Zdunic moved to help pay off the PMSA building loan at a cost of $22,000. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Cemetery Lawn Care- The Township received three lawn care bids for the cemeteries. The bid from R&J Enterprises was withdrawn. R.W.B. Lawn Care & Snow Plowing submitted a bid at a cost of $40.00 per hour with spring cleanup at $18.00 per hour. Munro Enterprise, Inc. submitted a bid at a cost of $300.00 per mowing for all three cemeteries and $800.00 for Spring cleanup. Sayles moved to accept the bid from Munro Enterprise, Inc. At a cost of $300.00 per mow for all three cemeteries and $800.00 for spring cleanup along with an additional cost of $250.00 to roll the open areas of the cemeteries. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Relay for Life Hall Rental- Sayles moved to allow the Relay for Life to use the Township Hall with a $100 deposit and the $60 rental fee up-front with the entire $160.00 being refunded after rental if the Hall is left as the contract states. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: Wirth- no, Sayles- yes, Zdunic- yes, D. Ash- no, L. Ash- yes. Motion carried.
Demis & Wenzlick- Audit Contract- L. Ash moved to accept the contract from Demis & Wenzlick for the 2006-2007 audit at a cost of $3,550.00 without GASB 34 conversion. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor.
Garage Roof Repairs- Obtain bids.
Cable Franchise- MTA is trying to put together a sample ordinance to help comply with the new cable franchise law.
Drain Commissioner- Sayles moved to send a letter to Commissioner Henrietta Sparks, along with a copy to the County Commissioner Board and the Drain Commissioner, stating that Bennington Township would like to see the pursuit of prosecution against the Drain Commissioner come to an end. Second by D. Ash. Motion carried.
Sayles moved to adjourn. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried.
