The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on August 7, 2006, 7:00pm at the Bennington Township Hall.
Roll Call: Ray Wirth, Nancy Zdunic, Lee Ash, Donna Ash, Gerald Sayles
L. Ash moved to approve agenda with addition of Township Hall tile. Second by Sayles. Motion carried.
Wirth moved to approve minutes for the regular board meeting on July 5, 2006 as printed. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Wirth. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to pay bills in the amount of $24,079.70. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All Board members in favor. Motion carried.

BOARD REPORTS:
Sheriffs - C. Carson- Update. Report on file.
Fire/Ambulance- LSW- 1 run in June.
Plan Comm- D Ash- Gave support to a grant application for Everlastings in the Woodland.
Roads- L Ash- Lake Manitou Roads are complete except for the sides. Bid for Cook Rd. between Hibbard Rd. and Bennington Rd. for gravel and ditching. Crack sealed Friegel Rd. from Bennington Rd. and Brewer Rd. Sayles moved to accept the bid from Shiawassee County Road Commission to gravel and ditch Cook Rd. from Hibbard Rd. to Bennington Rd. at a cost of $17,235 as long as the gravel amount is checked into first. Second by Zdunic. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Library- F. Gregory- Interest earned YTD as of June 30 is $11,200. Bought a new microfilm scanner/printer.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Pension Changes-Waiting for resolution for asset charges.
Township Web Site- Zdunic moved to have Jim Forsythe set up a Web site for
one year at benningtontownship.org
(corrected 9/6/06: bennington-township.org) with a cost for the web site with Mr.
Forsythe volunteering his services for the initial set up. Second by Sayles.
Roll call vote: L. Ash- yes, Zdunic- yes, Wirth- no, Sayles- yes, D. Ash-
no. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Township Hall Tile- Need to check into the need to place a tile or ditch at the Township Hall to divert water from fill area.
Hall Rental – Rebekah Morden- Mrs. Morden along with several others were present to request an explanation as to why they were denied their hall rental refund. Mrs. Morden was denied a hall rental refund due to damages incurred to the hall on her rental day. Mrs. Morden indicated that the hall was clean and in good condition when they left and that if damages were incurred to the hall as indicated, with the release of a fire extinguisher, that the police should have been called and a report filed. The Township did not notify the police due to the contract allowing the Township to retain the deposit to cover damages. Zdunic moved to return to the $100.00 hall rental deposit to Rebekah Morden because the Township could not specifically prove that the damages were incurred by the rental party. Second by Sayles. Roll call vote: All board members in favor. Motion carried. The Township will review the rental policy and document damages in the future.
Sayles moved to adjourn. Second by Wirth. Motion approved.
